it’s true…one time he wanted to be the most popular droid but because of his size he couldn’t get into a popularity contest. He liked to be liked so what he did to compensate for his size was to become very smart. The end. True story. Ask Lucas. Don’t quote me, but mention my name.

Oh boy this is exciting isn’t it! Exciting but after hours and hours of tedious work, spanning like three days. I added some texture maps to the head, body, booty, and feet. Also a BUMP-map to the body as well as the booty.

I’m still not satisfied with eye box, but I think I’ll rework that later once I get more of the body done. He still needs his third foot that pops out of the bottom. Yes it’s R2-D2 week here on the asdf… on my blog….it needs a new name. I’m too far from disneyland to go :L blah.

It’s totally R2-D2 week here. Check out my progress so far. I reworked the leg from scratch. Added some nifty cables which I didn’t think I could but I guess I did it so there. The body still needs more work, but overall I’m proud of myself here. I made him with simple shapes; cylinders, cubes, spheres and a lot of boolean cutters. I also did some parts with splines and the extrude tool thing. Looking a lot like the clone wars one now.
I have a funny, hopefully viral, video planned for him once I finish.

Hmm so far so good. I made the mistake of changing my mind several times as I made this. At first I wanted the “CloneWars” one, then I wanted to make the real one, THEN I wanted to make the CloneWars one again. So I have to reconfigure a lot of it because the CloneWars one is a caricature of the original one. The pipes on the legs are thicker and such. Still working on it. I like how it’s coming along, even tho, yeah I’m not so good with 3D cuz I’m still trying to teach myself how to work Cinema 4D. Not bad though.

oh yeah, the more details you put into it, the more you can forgive the little mistakes. It’s as though your eyes forget about the proportions or details being wrong as long as everything you want to see is in front of you.
